ADVENTIST BEGINNING COURTESY DAYCARE / PRESCHOOL

Welcome to ABC Preschool/Daycare

Adventist Beginning Courtesy Daycare / Preschool accepts each child where he/she is, providing a safe environment that promotes growth for the whole child: physically, mentally, socially, spiritually, and emotionally.  Children are encouraged to practice courtesy and kindness skills in their interactions with each other which help them communicate more effectively.  Our varied and structured preschool program motivates children to develop at their own level, preparing them for formal schooling in the future.

Goals

Since each child is unique our goals are to encircle the child with a warm, nurturing environment that encourages the harmonious growth of the whole child:

Physically: To develop large and small muscles and to practice simple health habits to maintain body fitness.
Mentally: To create a learning atmosphere that leads the child to expand his/her mental faculties and develop cognitive skills that reflect good judgment.
Socially: To teach communication skills that express courtesy and kindness in all his/her interactions with children of differing cultures and environments, rather than aggressive behavior; respecting the rights of others.
Spiritually: To introduce a loving God who created this world and its inhabitants and is constantly caring for our daily needs, gently drawing each child to reflect His goodness toward others.
Emotionally: To encourage the child to develop self-control and to habitually respond acceptably under stressful situations with appropriate behavior.

Learning Opportunities

ABC Daycare / Preschool presents opportunities and activities that appeal to children.  Each child will find and choose experiences that are meaningful to him/her, reaching out to greater challenges as his/her confidence increases.  Here is a brief description of these learning experiences.

  • Communication skills
  • Large and small motor activities
  • Recognition of colors, shapes, numbers, and letters; including sounds
  • Promoting computer skills
  • Recognition and observations of birds, animals, insects, plants, trees, fish, ocean life, weather, transportation, nutrition, calendar, maps, and planets.
  • Writing name, letters and numbers with correct form even though small motor muscles may not yet be fully developed.  As individual skills increase, so will their legibility.
  • Moral awareness training through Bible stories and other appropriate literature.
